  • Highway 41 remains closed after a rockslide near Cholame, while fresh rains raise mudslide risks countywide. CHP will boost safety patrols for the New Year holiday starting 6 p.m. tomorrow, SLO Restaurant Month begins Jan. 1 and Cayucos hosts its Polar Bear Dip on New Year’s Day (despite expected rain).  KSBY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Cass After Dark is a family-friendly music and stargazing event scheduled for Jan. 17 at Cass Winery in Paso Robles. The event will feature Americana tunes by the Susie Glaze New Folk Ensemble (with guest Casey Biggs) and stargazing hosted by the Cal Poly Astronomical Society starting at 5 p.m.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • Local singer Callie Twisselman made her Grand Ole Opry debut Saturday in Nashville—she performed 'King and Queen of Recklessness' and 'Ghost In My Head' from her debut EP, Growing in Grace.   • Estrella Warbirds Museum will host its monthly dinner on Wednesday, Jan. 7, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Guests will tour the remodeled Pfauter Building and Hangar One and have dinner at 6:30 p.m. Reservations must be made by Jan. 5 at 4251 Dry Creek Road.  Paso Robles Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bradley Union School District in Bradley was named one of the 10 Most Admired School Districts in the U.S. by Education Magazine — recognized for innovative teaching methods and community partnerships as enrollment surged over the past two years.   • Lila Colegrove (a junior team captain on the varsity women’s soccer squad) was named Bearcat Athlete of the Week after leading her team with 1100 minutes of play and a personal best 13 goals in a preseason that ended at 9-5-2.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • Payton McGill, a Templeton High cheerleader, performed with Varsity Spirit All-Americans at the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade in Honolulu from Dec. 3-8 and was honored as Eagle Athlete of the Week after her All-American selection at USA Camp at UCSB.  Paso Robles Daily News
