- ➤ A mudslide closed Highway 41 near the Cholame Y on Sunday, Dec. 28, and officials advised travelers to use Highway 33 (the alternate route) until the highway reopens. CalCoast News

- ➤ Cal Poly students from San Luis Obispo and Pomona held their annual float christening Dec. 19; team leaders Aubrey Goings and Amelia Atwell broke a champagne bottle on Jungle Jumpstart—this float moves to Pasadena for flower decoration starting Dec. 26 ahead of New Year's Eve judging. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Heavy traffic over the Christmas holiday pushed gas prices higher in the county, with the average cost increasing two cents to ($4.47) a gallon last week, while state and national averages fell. AAA data shows the county now ranks 14th highest for gas prices statewide. CalCoast News

- ➤ San Luis Obispo Public Health Department advises residents to avoid contact with ocean water for at least three days following heavy rain – a precaution to reduce risks of waterborne infections, especially among young children and older adults. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ Templeton High School junior Colter Tannehill was named MVP at the US Army All-American National Combine in Dallas and will play in next year's all-star football game. He led his team to a 12-1 record and threw 25 touchdowns. Paso Robles Daily News
