- ➤ The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office hosted its annual Christmas Bicycle Giveaway at Honor Farm where donated bicycles refurbished by incarcerated persons were delivered to children in need. A costumed Grinch made a brief appearance before local partners (including police and community organizations) helped conclude the event. Paso Robles Daily News
- ➤ CJ Gormley of Hope Family Wines — the national brand ambassador — has been named the 2025 Hospitality Star by the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance as part of its annual Community Wine Awards. - ➤ Atascadero’s Winter Wonderland event drew thousands on Friday as local groups built a snow slope that offered rides, food trucks and local performances near the Sunken Gardens — one of the county’s largest holiday celebrations. Paso Robles Daily News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The state Employment Development Department reported that SLO County’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.8% in September from 5% in August. Local government gained 300 jobs and state government 100 jobs (despite 400 hospitality cuts), and the rate remains above the national average and below the state level. CalCoast News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Cal Poly students showcased furniture in a November exhibition at the former California Pizza Kitchen (Marsh St.). The event featured 262 student projects and highlighted winners like Grace Schwigert, who earned the SPaCe Architecture Milano Grand Prize and could soon join Milan’s top furniture fair. Mustang News

- ➤ The Paso Robles Veterans of Foreign Wars will host the annual Buzz Marathon (a Boston Marathon qualifier) at Camp Roberts on Saturday, March 21. Registration is open for the 2026 race and participants will receive access instructions when gates open at 6 a.m. and the race starts at 7 a.m. Paso Robles Daily News
