- ➤ Bank of the Sierra donated $2,500 to Habitat for Humanity San Luis Obispo County on Nov. 17—supporting affordable housing projects like new home construction and repairs across the county. Paso Robles Daily News
- ➤ Sunset North Car Wash is partnering with the Salvation Army to launch an Angel Tree program to help seniors spend the holidays with support. Community members can pick a card at the three locations in Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, or Arroyo Grande + return their gifts by December 20. KSBY-TV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ A longtime San Luis Obispo appliance store (All Star Appliance) may close at the end of the year unless owner Dale Craig finds a buyer. Craig said the business shows strong performance potential and can run smoothly without special experience. KSBY-TV
- ➤ Vistra Energy withdrew its Morro Bay battery storage facility plan after telling the California Energy Commission it would not advance the project—citing regulatory challenges and local concerns over tourism and fishing. The Texas company had planned a 600-megawatt installation on 24 acres but pulled back due to state and coastal permit issues. CalCoast News

- ➤ New executive director Steve Schmidt has revived the History Center as he returned historic artifacts including part of the original chapel ceiling to Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa while volunteers work to raise funds after county budget cuts. A 4.1 earthquake struck about five miles west of Templeton at 9:54 a.m. Tuesday and was felt strongly in the region. KSBY-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Cal Poly Campus Dining and the International Center have teamed up to bring five new international meals made from student recipes—these meals are available Nov 17 to Nov 21 at venues like 1901 Kitchen, Balance, Noodles and Brunch at Vista Grande to mark International Education Week. The program offers global flavors and builds cultural sharing for the campus community. Mustang News
- ➤ Cal Poly will host its annual poinsettia sale on Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Poly Plant Shop on campus—offering thousands of holiday plants in red, white and red and white variegated colors along with student-made arrangements, wreaths, and additional gifts such as barbecue sauce and jams. - ➤ This summer, Cal Poly earned top rankings from Money Magazine, U.S. News and World Reports, and Forbes, with Money giving a five-star rating, U.S. News naming it the best overall master's-level university in the West, and Forbes listing it among the top public colleges. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Cal State Board of Trustees will vote today on an amendment that would let university presidents earn up to 15% in performance bonuses—this measure comes after the personnel committee noted that 18 presidents have base salaries below the 25th percentile compared to peers. The vote, set for 3:15 p.m., takes place as the system faces a $144 million budget cut—updates will follow. Mustang News
