- ➤ Today, locals can enjoy the ongoing Pismo Beach Sand Art Festival at the Pismo Beach Pier and the Central Coast Weavers Guild Showcase at Strawbale Barn in Atascadero. On Saturday, events include a Veterans Day Pancakes and Surf Gathering at Morro Rock, Arroyo Grande’s Beer and Wine Festival and Bash Cancer Fest, Hotel SLO’s Autumn Soiree, and a Salute to our Heroes car show in Paso Robles—plus a Crafty Creations Boutique event running Friday and Saturday at the Arroyo Grande Association Hall. - ➤ During Halloween week, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Tobacco Control Program to use minor decoys in unincorporated areas and cited three of 45 retail stores for selling tobacco to minors—store owners now face misdemeanor charges and fines. Paso Robles Daily News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The SLO Box Art Program celebrated its 15th anniversary with 20 new artworks unveiled on utility boxes from downtown to surrounding neighborhoods that honor local cultural and historic districts — the program now includes 72 painted boxes and plans to grow with new murals and guided art tours. Public Art Coordinator Amanda Greishop said the evolution from hand-painted boxes to vinyl wraps has expanded opportunities for artists of all ages. Mustang News

- ➤ Cal Poly students have received free access to the Adobe Creative Suite since Oct. 31 as part of a new agreement between Adobe and the Cal State system— a program that will cost $300,000, replacing a $40 annual fee. Students must cancel their plans through Adobe or Kivuto if they choose to opt out. Mustang News

- ➤ Parents and their teens gathered at Downtown Centre Cinemas on Wednesday to watch the free film Fentanyl High hosted by the San Luis Obispo Behavioral Health Department. The film shows how fentanyl affects teens — officials say it helps families learn warning signs. KSBY-TV
- ➤ The VSP Eyes of Hope mobile clinic visited the California Conservation Corps office on Madera Avenue in San Luis Obispo yesterday to provide free eye exams and prescription glasses to corpsmembers—after this stop, the tour will move on to San Diego and Imperial Beach to serve uninsured residents.
