- ➤ On Saturday, SLO firefighters set a dryer on fire to show how hidden lint can fuel dangerous house fires—neighbors watched and learned what steps to take if they see smoke. The demonstration highlighted the risk that dryer fires pose to homes. KSBY-TV
- ➤ San Luis Obispo is partnering with San Luis Garbage to hold Fall Clean-Up Week, which runs today through October 17 and lets residents leave up to six extra 32-gallon trash bags on collection day if they live in single-family homes. Residents can also schedule free bulky item pickups by calling ahead — placing items on the curb without a pickup is illegal. KSBY-TV

- ➤ The San Luis Obispo Record Swap returned this weekend after a seven-year break at the SLO Brew Rock Event Center with over a dozen vendors from across California, two live DJ stations and a courtyard performance by Gene Aguilera. - ➤ Cal Poly Volleyball swept University of Hawaii 3-0 at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu on Oct. 7, ending their final Big West trip with the rival as Hawaii plans its move to the Mountain West conference—this victory raised the Mustangs' record to 13-5. Earlier that day, they won a five-set match over UC Santa Barbara. Mustang News
