- ➤ The San Luis Obispo Wedding Expo will be held on Nov. 2 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Madonna Expo Center—where couples can meet florists, photographers and caterers and access exclusive deals from local wedding professionals. Paso Robles Daily News
- ➤ Today, a free basketball clinic at Paso Robles High School is training over 60 kids in grades 3 to 8 using a local winery grant while Caltrans begins lane closures in Lompoc that will cause up to a 10-minute delay until Thursday. Chevron is donating 2,700 acres near Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes to nearly double the wildlife refuge—UC Santa Barbara and UC Berkeley have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics and the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors postponed key public service proposals after public testimony. - ➤ Chevron donated 2,700 acres north of Guadalupe to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which more than doubled the size of the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes National Wildlife Refuge—restoration work that has been underway after decades of cleanup efforts. CalCoast News

- ➤ Ballots have been mailed to voters in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties for the Nov 4 special election. The ballot includes Proposition 50, which may change how congressional districts are drawn until 2030+ county officials noted the record short 74-day prep time and stressed that registration ends Oct 20. - ➤ The San Luis Obispo County Public Works Department will enforce new parking restrictions near crosswalks after Assembly Bill 413 takes effect this year — county crews will install updated striping and pavement markers at key intersections with fewer than 25 spaces affected. KSBY
- ➤ Residents in San Luis Obispo are worried about the high cost and tricky process of meeting new wildfire-urban interface codes discussed at a Tuesday city council meeting—City Manager Whitney MacDonald said it is a big task for the community. - ➤ Cal Poly’s Campus Health and Wellbeing is offering free flu shots to students this October—clinics are set up at central spots like Dexter Lawn, Health Center Lawn, Mustang Way, and the University Union Marketplace. Three sessions are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 13, Oct. 21, and Oct. 29, and students must bring a valid Cal Poly ID. Mustang News
