CULTURE NEWS

  • SLO Film Center will host its second annual haunting party on Oct. 1 at the Palm Theatre from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.—the event features haunted hallways, food, drinks, cinema-themed activities, and live music from local alt-rock duo Ghost — Monster, with tickets costing $15 and discounts for Palmie members.  Paso Robles Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cal Poly has added a second Mustang Shuttle route that now runs in opposite directions to help students reach their campus stops faster & a new daytime stop at Cerro Vista was included for better access. The shuttle runs weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and evenings daily from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with Cal Poly ID required for boarding.  Mustang News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tyler Brewer, owner of Family Paralegal Associates, announced on Saturday that he withdrew from the District 4 Supervisor race because his upcoming relocation makes him ineligible to serve. His exit leaves incumbent Jimmy Paulding + business owner Adam Verdin as the remaining candidates for the office covering Nipomo, Arroyo Grande, Oceano, Halcyon and other nearby areas.  KSBY
  • On Sept 25 at 8 p.m., a landlord in Madonna Road said someone pretending to be a city water employee claimed the water was unsafe to drink—city staff confirmed no work was being done and said the water was safe, urging residents to be alert.  Paso Robles Daily News

  • Cal Poly held UC Santa Barbara to a 0-0 draw in the Blue-Green Rivalry at Harder Stadium before 7,447 fans despite delays from lightning, and the Mustangs will try for a win in their next matchup on Oct. 18 at 4 p.m.—a key event for the team.  Mustang News
  • Cal Poly football player Troy Bean—who had made four tackles earlier—was stretchered off the field after trying to tackle an opponent near the 31-yard line during the third quarter of Saturday night’s game against Sacramento State. The game was paused for 15 minutes while medical staff provided care.  Mustang News
