  • San Luis Obispo County's unemployment rate fell to 5% in August as the workforce grew from 131,900 to 133,800 while the state education sector lost 2,100 jobs and local government added 1,100 jobs—placing the county 13th among 58 in California and showing its rate is above the national average yet below the state's.  CalCoast News

  • Cal Poly men's soccer scored a record eight goals in an 8-0 win against Utah Tech at Mustang Memorial Field earlier this week—breaking their previous mark and building on a tough home winning streak.  Mustang News
  • Cal Poly Football lost 35-17 to Stephen F. Austin on Saturday after starting quarterback Ty Dieffenbach was injured early in the game—he did not return—and Jackson Akins stepped in, completing 13-of-29 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown. The loss came as the Mustangs fell behind after Stephen F. Austin scored 21 points in the third quarter.  Mustang News
  • Cal Poly Volleyball went undefeated in the SLO Classic tournament after sweeping No. 20 Utah in three sets, raising their season record to 9-3—an achievement that marked their first win over a ranked opponent since 2019.
