➤ San Luis Obispo County's unemployment rate fell to 5% in August as the workforce grew from 131,900 to 133,800 while the state education sector lost 2,100 jobs and local government added 1,100 jobs—placing the county 13th among 58 in California and showing its rate is above the national average yet below the state's.
