CULTURE NEWS

  • The Paderewski Festival will open on Nov. 6 in Paso Robles to mark Paderewski’s 165th birthday with a band performance at the Paderewski statue in City Park and a concert by the Cuesta College North County Chorus at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. The festival will run through Nov. 9 and will offer a music gala with a public master class by Adam Żukiewicz and a recital by youth piano winners—making it a four-day celebration of music, wine, and local history.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • The Paso Robles City Library will host an in-person workshop on Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Library Study Center where participants create mini shrines to honor loved ones for Día de los Muertos — families must register and children under 13 need an adult.  Paso Robles Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cal Poly aerospace student Denis Gonzalez-Reyes received a CSU Trustees' scholar award and a $7,000 scholarship for outstanding academic achievement, community service, and financial need on Tuesday. The first gen student founded the Puente @ Cal Poly club (a support network for underrepresented students) and said she will pursue a career in aviation.  Paso Robles Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Emails revealed that County Supervisor Jimmy Paulding was involved with the Caballero battery storage project and urged his staff to issue permits before all fire and life safety measures were met—contradicting his earlier claim of being unaware—after Nipomo residents raised concerns following a battery fire in Moss Landing.  CalCoast News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Last week, the Grover Beach Planning Commission approved Bella Vista Villas—a five-story mixed-use building with 20 condos and a 900-square-foot gym—with one commissioner dissenting. Neighbors have until Sept. 16 to appeal the project over concerns about height, density, and setbacks.  CalCoast News
