  • Almond Country Quilt Guild will host its 35th annual auction on November 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Paso Robles (940 Creston Road), with doors opening at 1 p.m. and the auction starting at 2 p.m. featuring a boutique.  Paso Robles Daily News

  • Paso Robles Winery Trolley has launched new tours that begin with a sparkling wine send-off + stops at three wineries for tastings and vineyard views. This service offers both visitors and locals a scenic ride through rolling vineyards on a trolley that seats 14 guests.  Paso Robles Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • San Luis Obispo Police are seeking help to identify three suspects after a purse was stolen from a vehicle in a Ralphs parking lot on Aug. 27 and the victim’s credit cards were used to buy laptops at Costco—two suspects wore masks and one did not.  CalCoast News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Rep. Salud Carbajal announced federal funds to enhance two local airports — SLO County Regional Airport will receive $2,725,597 for building a new 315-foot taxiway while Oceano Airport gets $313,500 to reseal 2,325 feet of runway pavement. Courtney M. Johnson stated that the funds from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will modernize the facilities to maintain safe and efficient operations for the community.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • San Luis Obispo County Fire Safe Council and Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services will offer a free chipping program on Sept. 22-23 to help homeowners create the 100-foot defensible space required around properties in moderate to high fire hazard zones. Registration is open for the first 50 properties and is funded by the State of California (residents should sign up before stacking materials to meet program requirements).  Paso Robles Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Red Cross Pacific Coast Chapter urges San Luis Obispo residents to prepare for disasters by making emergency kits and plans during National Preparedness Month—warning that wildfires now occur nearly twice as often as a decade ago. Local volunteers worked with firefighters in San Luis Obispo County this summer to identify wildfire risks and help families plan safe evacuations.  Paso Robles Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The California Coast Classic Bike Tour will ride along Highway 1 and local roads in San Luis Obispo County from Sept. 6 to Sept. 13 — riders will cover the SLO County segment on Sept. 9 — while CHP and Caltrans work to keep cyclists safe.  Paso Robles Daily News
