- ➤ Woods Humane Society is holding its free Pets of the Year Calendar Contest from Sept. 1–30 where pet owners can nominate their pets by uploading a photo and asking friends to donate for votes + every fundraiser that raises at least $25 wins a calendar. The top ten fundraisers will be featured in a 2026 print calendar and winners will be announced at the Wiggle Waggle Fall Festival on Oct. 25. Paso Robles Daily News
- ➤ Today, the ALF Food Pantry Board of Directors launched its Community Challenge fundraiser and pledged to match donations up to $31,000 through Oct. 1 to support food-insecure families as grant support has dropped — the pantry spends $15,000 each month on supplemental groceries. - ➤ On Aug 28, police said that two people stole a piece of jewelry from Garden Street Goldsmith in downtown San Luis Obispo when an employee immediately retrieved it+ police are seeking help from residents to identify the suspects. Paso Robles Daily News
- ➤ San Luis Obispo police are asking for help to identify two suspected thieves—one is a middle-aged man with salt and pepper hair, beard and mustache, and the other is a younger man with dark hair—who stole a piece of jewelry from Garden Street Goldsmith last week and will face grand theft and conspiracy charges. - ➤ Cuesta College will present the Inner Landscape exhibition by Sung Won Yun at the Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery starting Sept 4 through Oct 17. An opening reception is scheduled for Sept 4 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. (an artist talk at 6 p.m. will be livestreamed) to help visitors explore themes of memory, nature, and time. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ Firefighters responded Thursday afternoon to a vegetation fire across from Vineyard Elementary School on Vineyard Road in Templeton — the 2 to 3 acre fire was contained and Vineyard Road was closed for emergency use. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ Downtown San Luis Obispo will get a new fourth parking structure early next year. The $41 million facility will offer nearly 400 parking spots, 41 electric vehicle chargers and 32 bike racks — work continues on Palm, Nipomo and Monterey streets. KSBY-TV
