- ➤ Congressman Salud Carbajal announced that Santa Maria Airport received over $3.8 million for Runway 12-30 improvements and that the economy grew 3.3% last quarter from strong consumer spending. Today, SLO Overdose Awareness Day will be held at Mitchell Park from noon to 3 p.m.—county planners said a new trail project may reduce parking at a popular dog beach while proposals in Buellton and Santa Barbara seek to change local rental rules and roadway art programs. - ➤ Pianist Paul Cornish will perform at Libretto in Paso Robles on Sept. 13 as part of his tour supporting his debut album You’re Exaggerating! on Blue Note Records—he studied in Houston and performed with Joshua Redman. - ➤ Digital Democracy, a project from Cal Poly operated with CalMatters, won an Emmy Award for its use of AI to uncover hidden patterns in state government.
