  • The sheriff’s office said the state 9-1-1 system was restored after a Monday outage, while Costco’s gas station on Froom Ranch Way is closed for over two months for an expansion and a sonic boom advisory was issued ahead of today’s SpaceX launch from Vandenberg—its booster will land eight minutes after liftoff. Cayucos Landing reopened on Monday after renovations, Sunsets at Pismo will close in October due to a zoning error, and Cabrillo High School is raising funds for a new on-campus stadium as project costs nearly tripled.  KSBY

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Saturday evening, a fire destroyed a barn on the 3000 block of Ryan Road in Creston, injuring one helper & leaving horses unharmed while firefighters contained the blaze and investigators looked into its cause, and a GoFundMe was launched to help the family replace lost property.  Paso Robles Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • Atascadero police arrested Ivan Sandoval-Farias—a Paso Robles man—on Aug. 21 after a vehicle pursuit tied to a domestic violence report from Aug. 12, with authorities saying he was on parole for evading an officer and drove recklessly through Templeton before his vehicle was later found near Highway 46 West.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • A male paddleboarder attacked a female surfer in Morro Bay on Saturday during an altercation over a wave, beating her with his paddle, grabbing her hair, and shoving her under water—he now faces attempted murder charges and is in jail with bail set at $500,000 while the surfer recovers.  CalCoast News

  • Blaze Pizza will host a fundraiser event on Sept. 4 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 2051 Theatre Drive in Paso Robles + 20 percent of meal proceeds will benefit the nonprofit scholarship organization established in honor of the late Albert C Steele to support middle and high school students interested in sports and education.  Paso Robles Daily News

  • The San Luis Obispo County Flood Control and Water Conservation District has opened an online survey for its DESAL plan—a study of regional ocean desalination for a drought-proof water supply—and will host a virtual meeting on September 15 at 5 p.m. to gather local input.  Paso Robles Daily News

  • Hypnosis and mindfulness instructor Art Kuhns will host a workshop titled Mindfulness: Breathe — Pause: Reset for Women on Sept. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Live Oak Room at Centennial Park at 600 Nickerson Drive to give women tools for managing midlife changes and daily stress; registration costs $35 with discounts for additional family members and military participants.  Paso Robles Daily News
