- ➤ Central Coast Outdoors has launched a kayak tour that takes participants to Grassy Bar Oyster Company's farm in Morro Bay National Estuary—where local experts teach oyster farming and shucking and offer a tasting of six oysters at $95 per person. - ➤ A barn on the 3000 block of Ryan Road in Creston burned down Saturday evening—firefighters controlled nearby vegetation while one person was injured and horses moved to safety; the cause remains under investigation. Paso Robles Daily News
- ➤ On August 23, the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Nacimiento Lake Drive that spread to nearby vegetation but was stopped at a quarter-acre while crews mopped up the scene in about an hour. Paso Robles Daily News
- ➤ The San Luis Obispo County Fire Department responded Sunday to a lithium battery fire in a Paso Robles garage on Ladera Lane that could have damaged the home and safely removed the battery storage to isolate the hazard—hazardous materials units stayed to ensure the batteries were fully out. - ➤ Costa Gallery owner Michael J. Costa launched his new photo exhibit Learning to Breathe, Trekking in Nepal that shows photos from his trips to Everest Base Camp and Annapurna. The exhibit is on view at Costa Gallery in Los Osos — until Oct.26 and Costa will begin his pilgrimage to Nepal and Bhutan on Sept.6 — while his Change 4 Change Nepal fundraiser accepts donations until Aug.31.
