➤ The SLO Food Bank launched the Local Harvest Fund to replace a $600,000 federal funding cut—supporting local farms and families with fresh produce. Must! Charities is providing multi-year support and the bank will invest $1.5M in local food purchases by 2030. Paso Robles Daily News
➤ Creston Village Assisted Living and Memory Care held a dining room baby shower for dining server Maria Barrera, who welcomed her first child Ezra on August 11—she weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces. About 75 staff and residents offered advice and support as Executive Director Adam Bramwell said he will hold Ezra first when he visits his mother. Paso Robles Daily News
➤ Templeton community members will hold two fundraisers in September to help the Jermin family restore the historic 1912 Feed & Grain building after a July 4 fire damaged its 105 foot silos. The first event is a farm-to-table dinner on Sept. 19 held at the silos site & the second is a classic car show with music and auctions on Sept. 21 in downtown Templeton. Paso Robles Daily News

➤ Activist Julie Tacker discovered on August 20 that Pismo Beach did not pay property taxes on two parcels purchased for the controversial Central Coast Blue recycled water project. County officials are reassessing the tax responsibility—following her report—before notifying the city as Pismo Beach continues the project after Grover Beach withdrew. CalCoast News
➤ San Luis Obispo County's Office of Emergency Services now asks residents, business owners, and farmers affected by the Gifford Fire to report any property damage so it can assess the overall impact and plan recovery efforts — the county may use the information to seek local, state, or federal aid. ➤ On Tuesday night, the Paso Robles City Council voted 4-1 to let its three delivery services serve adult-use cannabis customers and begin work on a plan for retail sales that could boost tax revenue. The council also approved a $111,000 payment for the El Camino Homeless Organization to continue its program into fiscal year 2025-26 — the new plan ends nightly shelter beds and will add a 10-bed warming center in November. ➤ The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Airports has launched the Wings Over SLO CAL 2026 calendar contest for local students, which opens Wednesday with entries due by Oct. 20; students in grades K-12 can also submit their art in person at the Girls in Aviation Day event at Oceano Airport on Sept. 20.
