COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Atascadero Chamber of Commerce announced that Amanda Wittstrom-Higgins, Candice Galli and Traci Hollinger were named as the 2025 Women of Influence North County recipients—honoring women who help their communities and industries. A luncheon will be held on Sept. 11 at Springhill Suites in Atascadero, and one of the honorees will be named Woman of Influence at an awards dinner on March 28.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • The Atascadero and Paso Robles/Templeton Chambers of Commerce will co-host the North County Membership Mixer on Aug. 28 at Templeton Tennis Ranch from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.—the largest networking event on the Central Coast that will help build new business relationships.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • Starting mid-August through mid-October, the City of Atascadero and the Central Coast Zoo will launch a weekend vending program at Atascadero Lake Park that offers local food options every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.—vendors must supply their own small generator since electricity will not be provided. The vendor application deadline has been extended to Aug. 22 and the scheduled dates include Aug. 30, Sept. 6 and 7, Sept. 13 and 14, Sept. 20 and 21, Sept. 27 and 28, Oct. 4 and 5, Oct. 11 and 12, and Oct. 18 and 19.  Paso Robles Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Caltrans ended one-way traffic control on a 2.2-mile section of Highway 166 Friday at 4:30 p.m., and drivers on Highway 166 between US 101 and Highway 33 now face intermittent flagging operations — with delays up to 20 minutes as crews work on post-fire repairs and slope stabilization. This work is set to continue over the next several weeks as crews repair pavement, shoulders, drainage, and guardrails in areas damaged by wildfires.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • Cannabis delivery owners at Dubs Green Garden asked for a restraining order against critic Linda George but a judge on August 16 denied the request, saying it violated her First Amendment rights—while the City Council will review changes to the cannabis ordinance on Aug. 19 and a court hearing is scheduled for Aug. 20.  CalCoast News

  • Tournament officials announced the Central Coast Tennis Classic will return to Templeton Tennis Ranch from Sept. 22—28, where players will compete for a $60,000 prize purse and WTA ranking points. Local fans can look forward to watching rising stars, including past champion Taylor Townsend, in action as the event unfolds.  Paso Robles Daily News
