- ➤ On Wednesday afternoon, the Gifford Fire burned 130,440 acres in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties after it jumped a containment line at Hi Mountain Road near Pozo, injuring 11 people and damaging five structures. Fire crews reached 41% containment as 4,976 firefighters battled the blaze, managed evacuations and faced up to 1 hour delays on Highway 166 — officials continue to monitor the situation.
