The university said the changes did not shift the ratio of opportunities for its female students. KSBY-TV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Gifford Fire burned 122,065 acres and remained 33% contained as winds pushed it west along Garcia Ridge while firefighters prepared a strategic controlled burn to remove vegetation before the flames spread further. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Cal Poly announced last week it would move stunt from a club sport to a varsity sport by the start of next academic year following the cut of its swim and dive program. The team, which won a national championship in 2023, has drawn interest from over 100 athletes and will offer up to 65 spots for female competitors—marking a long-awaited change in its sports programs. - ➤ Elijah Ponder left Cal Poly and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Patriots, joining training camp in Foxborough (where he helped make key plays in his preseason debut).
