- ➤ SpaceX is set to launch tonight from Vandenberg with a 7:05 p.m. window while the Gifford Fire has grown to 118,000 acres with 33% containment and nearly 3,000 structures at risk—fire officials will hold a meeting at Veteran’s Hall from 7—8 p.m. A Sunday crash on Los Osos Valley Road injured one person and forced an apartment building evacuation, Chef Dalan Moreno was honored by PETA for his vegan breakfast sandwich, and residents joined United Way’s back-to-school donation event. - ➤ John Gsell was rescued after he clung to a buoy in 55-degree water off Morro Rock on Aug. 9—he said his boat struck a large object and threw him overboard as he fought to reach shore. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ Family, friends and law enforcement are searching for Robert Kruse, a 35-year-old man from San Luis Obispo who went missing after planning a hiking trip with a check-in at the Ragged Point Inn between August 5 and August 7—he was last seen driving his 2007 Saturn Aura in Long Beach on August 6 and his hiking gear was found in his car at the inn's parking lot. - ➤ A San Luis Obispo man went missing after a planned Big Sur trip as he was last seen on August 5 in Long Beach and his car was found on August 9 at Ragged Point Inn while police continue to search the area (35-year-old Robert Kruse) and family said he left his hiking gear in his car (he wore a white shirt and blue shorts and had a multi-colored backpack). - ➤ Gifford Fire grew to 119,214 acres and was 33% contained by Monday, Aug. 11 — local officials held a meeting at Veteran’s Hall at 7 p.m. to update residents and answer questions. KSBY-TV

- ➤ The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors approved an emergency proclamation on Monday in response to the Gifford Fire that started August 1 along Highway 166 east of Santa Maria—evacuation orders were issued for Pozo and Santa Margarita Lake as the fire burned nearly 120,000 acres.
