  • Novy’s Ark Dog Rescue selected Stella from Fresno as this week's adoptable pet—Stella is a four month old pup recovering from poor health who is good with children, dogs and cats while she learns housebreaking for an active home.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • A false ICE scare caused worry among community members when white vans with Navy stickers were seen at the Courtyard Marriott in Paso Robles on Friday—social media warnings led to low attendance for a Spanish language concert at the Mid-State Fair. An investigation confirmed the vans belonged to military personnel and that only about 900 tickets were pre-sold compared to around 5,000 in past years.  CalCoast News

  • The Cambria Hotel Templeton-Paso Robles opened its doors in late June and now welcomes guests with 132 rooms, a full-service restaurant, a resort-style pool, EV charging stations and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Locally owned and managed by Pacifica Hotels, the hotel is located at 1000 Las Tablas Road (Templeton) and is offering special rates and packages through the month.  Paso Robles Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • On Sunday, a man was spotted huffing nitrous oxide in a car at the Marsh Street parking garage and fled when officers tried to stop him—he was charged with felony evading a peace officer and misdemeanor DUI.  CalCoast News
  • A former San Luis Obispo County restaurateur, Robert Clouston, was arrested on July 15 along with his wife Brenda and two undocumented workers after a three-year investigation into a cleaning company scheme that exploited immigrants by paying below minimum wage and dodging employment taxes + if convicted, they face charges carrying up to a 10-year prison term and fines.  CalCoast News

  • SpaceX will launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base today at 11:13 a.m. The rocket will carry NASA’s TRACERS mission to study magnetic reconnection in Earth’s atmosphere—an event that may cause sonic booms for residents in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties.  KSBY
  • Today the Atascadero City Council is voting on annexing the Dove Creek mixed-use project into the Community Facilities District to allow a special tax levy—qualified voters will later decide on the tax. The project, approved last June after two decades in the permitting pipeline, covers a 5.19-acre site and includes commercial space, 71 residential condos, and a 20-room hotel designed to compete with short-term rentals near Paloma Creek Park—construction is set to begin soon.  CalCoast News
  • The sheriff’s team visited supportive housing sites—Cabins for Change and Balay Ko on Barca—last week as part of its CalAIM Pre-Release Care Management program to help people in custody connect with housing, care and support. They thanked 5Cities Homeless Coalition for their work in building real pathways to stability and dignity.  Paso Robles Daily News
