CRIME NEWS

  • On Friday evening, Paso Robles police stopped a 2024 GMC truck on Golden Hill Road and found nearly 100 pounds of narcotics, which led to the arrest of driver Jose Acosta and passenger Veronica Romero—both now face multiple felony charges.  KSBY-TV
  • Paso Robles police stopped a GMC truck on Golden Hill Road on Friday and seized 90 pounds of suspected methamphetamine plus four pounds of suspected cocaine valued at about $240,000 — officers arrested 42-year-old Jose Acosta and 45-year-old Veronoca Romero from Salinas for drug possession with intent to distribute, transportation and conspiracy.  CalCoast News
  • San Luis Obispo police arrested James Mattison after two residences yielded methamphetamine, multiple firearms—including ghost guns and 3D printer parts—and other drug materials, and his bail was later set at $350,000.  Paso Robles Daily News

  • Skye Davis was crowned Miss California Mid-State Fair Queen on July 19th after a competitive event and will represent the fair with her court during ongoing festivities. ECONOMY NEWS

  • The state Employment Development Department reported that in June unemployment in San Luis Obispo County jumped by 32.7% as the number of unemployed workers rose from 4,900 in May to 6,500. Job losses occurred in retail, wholesale trade, and private education and health services while the hospitality sector added 200 jobs—raising the county’s unemployment rate from 3.6% to 4.8%.  CalCoast News

  • Paso Robles police officers were honored at the MADD California Awards Banquet in Camarillo for their DUI enforcement efforts. Officers Garcia—27 arrests, Gomez—25, Hascall—31, Beal—34, and Stewart—36—and department officials urged Mid-State Fair visitors to plan for safe rides home.  Paso Robles Daily News
