🚧 Accidents
On Sunday evening, a green Nissan Pathfinder and a purple Toyota Prius collided on Creston Road near the Neal Springs intersection in Paso Robles; firefighters worked over two hours at the scene to put out a small vegetation fire while responders transported two injured people — one seriously and one moderately — to the hospital.
A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Creston and Neal Spring Roads sparked a vegetation fire that injured one person severely and another moderately—fire crews are extricating victims and an EMS helicopter is responding.
🚨 Crime
Paul Flores, convicted of first-degree murder for killing Kristin Smart and serving a 25-year-to-life sentence, filed an appeal on July 7 seeking a reversal or a reduction to a second-degree murder conviction.
His appeal claims several trial errors—including a biased juror and improper evidence admission—that led to an unfair trial while prosecutors maintained the trial was fair.
📰 Economy
Gas prices in SLO County dropped nine cents to $4.90 per gallon last week according to AAA data.
The lower prices come because there is more oil supply and some local stations, like the San Paso Truck Stop in Paso Robles, offer cheaper gas.
