  • Atascadero will host its 2025 Cruisin’ Weekend free event starting on Aug. 15 with the 32nd annual Hot El Camino Cruise Nite at 6:30 p.m., featuring over 350 restored antique cars cruising downtown. On Aug. 16, a Mid-State Cruizers Car Show will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Dancing in the Streets will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. — local food vendors and merchants will participate in the festivities.  Paso Robles Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • San Luis Obispo police arrested 37 year old Jacob Burke, a gas station clerk at a Chevron in the 12000 block of Los Osos Valley Road, after a supervised minor purchased tobacco without showing ID—detectives later found methamphetamine and a glass pipe on him, and Burke now faces felony charges including selling tobacco to a minor and possessing drug paraphernalia with bail set at $50,000.  CalCoast News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Studios on the Park and the Master Sgt. Petry Chapter of the Association of the United States Army have invited military artists to email digital submissions by Nov. 1 for the upcoming exhibition 'My Military Journey.' The exhibit will run from Jan. 5 through Feb. 1 at the downtown gallery and feature an opening reception on Jan. 10—selected artists will be notified by Nov. 11.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • Midnight Cellars, a family-owned winery in Paso Robles, will host its Summer Concert Series with live music, food, and wines in its outdoor garden from July through September. Concerts run on Saturday evenings from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. — a $5 cover charge applies except for wine club members, children, and industry professionals.  Paso Robles Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On June 23, the San Luis Obispo County Grand Jury reported that the city did not enforce noise rules to protect residents from loud parties hosted by Cal Poly students and rowdy fraternities. The report recommended new measures—including a joint plan with Cal Poly and a review of permit appeal fees—and the city must respond within 90 days.  CalCoast News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Nurses at Adventist Health’s Twin Cities and Sierra Vista hospitals picketed Tuesday, June 24 to demand better staffing, retention, and healthcare coverage as contract talks continue. The California Nurses Association said the Twin Cities picket lasted from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Las Tablas Road in Templeton while the Sierra Vista action ran from noon to 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Murray Avenue and Santa Rosa Street.  KSBY-TV
