  • Today is Juneteenth and community members mark the day as PG&E warns that nearly 500 northern customers may lose power while a resource center opens at Cuesta College North County Campus and the downtown Farmers Market is canceled; Templeton meets at 6:30 p.m. to discuss new local projects—local news also covers a human trafficking trial in SLO County, Col. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 46 this week when officers responded at (9:31 p.m.) on Wednesday and found vehicles blocking lanes at (eastbound Highway 46 and Mill Road), with one occupant later dying from injuries while another was taken for treatment.  KSBY-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested a 62-year-old man on Tuesday after he attempted to steal approximately $1,700 in merchandise from the REI Co-Op on Madonna Road — officers later located him at a nearby bus stop and booked him on suspicion of attempted second-degree burglary with bail set at $110,000.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • San Luis Obispo residents have received calls from scammers using sheriff’s office names to claim an arrest warrant for missed federal jury duty and demand payment in gift cards—officials confirm the sheriff’s office never calls to request money and urge anyone contacted to hang up and report the call.  Paso Robles Daily News

  • Tickets and hotel packages for the 2025 Cambria Christmas Market are now on sale, and the event will run from Nov. 28 through Dec. 31 with closures on Dec. 1 and 2, Dec. 8 and 9, and Dec. 24 and 25—organizers say the market will feature over 3 million lights, a German inspired vendor market, visits with Santa, train rides, live music, and seasonal food and drinks. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Trustee Kenney Enney of the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District sent an open letter on June 19 supporting the DOJ’s June 2 call to reject CIF Bylaw 300.D—he said the rule forces girls to compete against boys and violates constitutional rights. He noted that the board did not hold the special meeting needed to draft a response, and he vowed to keep fighting the policy to protect fairness and safety for young women.  CalCoast News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • PG&E turned off power for 1,719 customers in Paso Robles at 9 a.m. on Friday and restored it about an hour later as a safety measure; the company planned to shut off power for North San Luis Obispo County from today through Saturday—times may change with the weather.  CalCoast News
