  • Justin Vineyards & Winery awarded $350,000 to nonprofits and schools in North San Luis Obispo County through its 2025 Community Grants program; $300,000 supported local groups in health, education, youth, senior, and environmental projects while $50,000 aided classroom supplies and enrichment efforts. The program, selected by a committee of employees, has invested over $2.1 million since 2013 to bolster community services in the Paso Robles area.  Paso Robles Daily News

  • Ancient Peaks Winery has hired Alyssa Krichevsky as its new director of hospitality—she is returning to lead the tasting room, café, wine club and special events to boost direct-to-consumer efforts.  Paso Robles Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • The SLO County Sheriff's Office warned residents that scammers are making calls claiming a warrant due to missed federal jury duty and demanding gift card payments—officials say to hang up and report these calls.  KSBY-TV
  • California is one of the top four human trafficking destinations identified by the FBI and local officials say the issue remains serious, with Santa Barbara County having completed 278 investigations since 2016 while law enforcement use DeliverFund’s database to track cases. A human trafficking trial at San Luis Obispo County courthouse is paused until Monday afternoon and will continue into mid-July.  KSBY-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Studios on the Park has launched Whimsical Wonders, a month-long silent auction featuring 10 original paintings by local artists—proceeds will support Kids Art Smart and Community Arts Access art programs. Bids can be placed in person during open hours or online until June 30.  Paso Robles Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Camp Cinder will host 32 female high school students from across California for a four-day firefighting camp in San Luis Obispo from June 23-26 - they will learn water rescue, CPR, firefighting tactics and more at sites including Cal Poly, the Cal Fire training facility and Avila Dog Beach.  Paso Robles Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cal Poly's swim and dive team did not meet its $15 million goal after raising only $9 million, so the program was not reinstated by the June 15 deadline—its four-month campaign ended without success. The team now explores other options with a new GoFundMe launched on June 18 to cover legal and public awareness costs.  Mustang News
