- ➤ Community members have rallied around injured barber Madelyn Rain — who fractured three vertebrae after a 30-foot cliff fall while hiking last week — by starting an online fundraiser to cover her medical bills, lost income, and ongoing recovery, and her shop said she will be unable to work for at least a month. - ➤ Meade Canine Rescue and Sanctuary in Creston—founded by Charlotte Meade—will move back to New York on Fourth of July because high costs in California force the change. The 40 remaining dogs will travel about 3,000 miles to a new 8-acre property—while its Creston facility has been sold to Haven for Hope. KSBY-TV

- ➤ On Monday morning at 5:22 a.m., firefighters from Five Cities, CAL FIRE, and SLO City Fire responded to a blaze at a single-story home on 16th Street in Oceano, safely evacuating four residents while the home suffered about 90% damage and one firefighter received a cut that required stitches—investigators are still working to determine the cause. - ➤ A pick-up truck collided with a Jack in the Box at the intersection of Santa Rosa Street and Olive Street at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday + police said the driver was not injured and are still investigating the cause without suspecting DUI. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ Daiso will open its first San Luis Obispo County store at (901 Rancho Parkway) in Arroyo Grande this fall to replace the former Pier 1 site. - ➤ Brecon Estate, a family-owned winery in Paso Robles, won top honors at the Pacific Rim International Wine Competition last week—earning Best of Show and Best Class White Wine for its 2024 True Acacia Head Albariño and Best of Class Red Wine with the Don Galleano Award for its 2023 Zinfandel in a two-day blind tasting judged against international entries. - ➤ Police arrested Juan Vargus-Tufino, an 18-year-old San Luis Obispo resident on probation for prior felonies, late Friday night after arcade staff reported seeing a man with a gun on Higuera Street—officers later found his firearm without a serial number and suspected to be 3D printed or after-market, and he was charged with multiple firearm offenses.
