ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, June 14, 2025, a fast-moving vegetation fire burned 400 acres near Shandon and grew to 863 acres (5% contained) near Bitterwater Canyon Road and Bitterwater Road. Firefighters are battling the blaze from the air and ground as they investigate its cause.  CalCoast News
  • Firefighters responded on Friday to a structure fire near Lucas Lane in Paso Robles where crews worked until 11 p.m. to salvage belongings, and to vegetation fires near Interlake Road in Oak Shores that burned up to 38 acres and near Lowe’s Canyon Road in San Miguel that was fully contained by 2 p.m. + all causes are under investigation with no injuries reported.  Paso Robles Daily News

  • Paso Robles High School appointed Michael Susank as its new athletic director for the 2025-26 school year—he was most recently principal at Mission College Preparatory—and he plans to strengthen the athletic program for student-athletes.  Paso Robles Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Bitter Fire near Shandon scorched 1,300 acres and was 26% contained Saturday evening—120 firefighters with nine engines, three helicopters, five dozers, and four water tenders battled the blaze in rolling hills of grass and barley fields while the cause remains under investigation.  CalCoast News
