CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The San Luis Obispo Police Department warned residents on June 12 about a phone scam in which callers posed as department staff to extort money & urged people to hang up immediately. CalCoast News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles will feature the Myra Wilde Special Stars contest where artists with emotional, developmental or physical challenges can submit a 3D jockey or horse sculpture using any material that stands on its own—entries in junior and senior divisions can earn cash prizes and each exhibitor may enter up to two works per class. The fair runs from July 17 to July 28 and other departments, including Agriculture, Horticulture and Floriculture, are also accepting entries with registration ending July 8 and entry pickup on July 29. - ➤ Caltrans completed the Highway 46 and State Route 41 interchange near Cholame yesterday—improving traffic flow and safety on the Central Coast. The project includes a flyover ramp that lets eastbound Highway 46 traffic safely join northbound State Route 41—while transition ramps support ongoing work as the highway widening continues later this summer. - ➤ The Pismo Beach City Council voted June 2 to lower fines for overstaying a paid parking meter to $20 per hour after the first hour, with the change taking effect in early July. The $80 fine for not paying a meter remains unchanged. CalCoast News
