  • Fort Hunter Liggett will host its annual Freedom Fest on June 28 at the DeAnza Baseball Field next to the gym—gates open at 6 p.m. with $5 per vehicle admission and activities including live music, axe throwing, food vendors and family-friendly games.  Paso Robles Daily News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday evening, 51-year-old Jeremy Thomas crashed his 2018 Suzuki motorcycle on El Pomar Road near Templeton — losing control on a curve — and was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center with major injuries while CHP investigates the incident.  CalCoast News

CRIME NEWS

  • Five pro-Palestinian activists stormed into the Cal Poly administration building on Wednesday and spray-painted walls, windows, furniture and floors, and while no one was hurt, police arrested two individuals — 30-year-old Alejandro Bupara and 22-year-old Theodore Lee — on charges of vandalism, conspiracy and using a mask to evade recognition.  CalCoast News
  • At 2:49 a.m. on May 26, a deputy stopped a car on Los Osos Valley Road at Madonna Road for expired registration and an expired license for driver Micah Ayhens, which led to a struggle when Ayhens and passenger Rickter Marr refused to obey so deputies broke a window to enter and found suspected drugs including meth, fentanyl, psilocybin mushrooms, a digital scale, and bags, and all three suspects—Micah Ayhens, Rickter Marr, and passenger Kiona Zamora—were arrested as the case remains under active investigation.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • San Luis Obispo police will conduct a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint today from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on the 900 block of Marsh Street—using local data to target high-risk areas and improve road safety.  Paso Robles Daily News

  • Leslie and the Soul Shakers will kick off the 2025 summer Concerts in the Park series on June 12 at 6 p.m. in City Park in Paso Robles (organized by the City and Paso Robles REC Foundation). The free series runs every Thursday until Aug. 28 (except on June 19 and July 24).  Paso Robles Daily News
  • Local wineries will host the second annual White Wine Invitational on Friday, June 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rava Wines—11 Paso Robles producers will showcase white and sparkling wines while ticket sales benefit Must! Charities.  Paso Robles Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Army Reserve is conducting its largest exercise ever at Fort Hunter Liggett—where soldiers practice moving supplies and live fire drills—in Operation Mojave Falcon. The training will continue until June 14.  KSBY-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • San Luis Obispo County is urging residents to vaccinate their pets and avoid contact with wild bats after seven rabies cases were confirmed in wildlife last year and three cases have been reported so far this year. Officials say if a dead or injured bat is found, residents should not touch it and must call Animal Services at (805) 781-4400 for safe handling.  Paso Robles Daily News
