- ➤ On Monday, June 1, law enforcement and Special Olympics athletes will carry the Flame of Hope for the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Santa Maria begins at 10:30 a.m. at City Hall, and Santa Barbara starts Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. — the run will end in Long Beach on June 5. KSBY
- ➤ On June 6 the inaugural Contractors Cornhole Showdown tournament will take place at Sunken Gardens in Downtown Atascadero & teams register at 8 a.m. as proceeds support adaptive recreation and scholarship programs. Paso Robles Daily News
- ➤ Templeton Beer Run, a 5K fundraiser for local recreation programs, will take place on June 27 at BarrelHouse Brewing Company in Paso Robles. Runners, walkers and families should pre-register by June 23 (adults receive beer tasters and a pint) to join a race that winds through the local area. Paso Robles Daily News
- ➤ Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services will lead a procession tomorrow honoring former fire chief Michael Paul McCain. Community members are invited to wear Hawaiian-themed clothing while Arroyo Grande will soon install a roundabout at East Grand Avenue and Traffic Way to improve safety after years of crashes. - ➤ The fifth annual SafetyFest will take place at downtown City Park in Paso Robles on June 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where residents can learn essential emergency preparedness skills through hands-on activities led by first responders and safety professionals. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ Ticket sales opened on Ticketmaster today — Slightly Stoopid will perform their first California show on Oct. 8 at Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles, with support from The Elovaters and DENM. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ Paso Robles Joint Unified School District appointed Doreen Castillo as director of district data, assessment, and plan alignment; Castillo (recognized as administrator of the year and having led multiple schools) brings 18 years of leadership experience to support improved student achievement across the district. - ➤ Cal Poly increased Latino enrollment to 28.8% in fall 2025 as it moved toward Hispanic-serving institution status, while students noted that other underrepresented groups receive less focus (black student enrollment remains at 0.8%). Mustang News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Cal Poly Baseball clinched its second straight NCAA Tournament berth by defeating UC San Diego in the Big West Tournament last week, marking its first consecutive tournament appearances since 2013-14. Head Coach Larry Lee said the team faces challenges with the RPI system that undervalues West Coast baseball. Mustang News
- ➤ Paso Robles High School Athletics is accepting nominations for its 2026 Athletic Hall of Fame, honoring former athletes, coaches and contributors.
