  • Templeton's Fourth of July Celebration in the Park will include a hometown parade, live entertainment, family activities, and a beer garden, as the Paso Robles & Templeton Chamber of Commerce invites vendors and sponsors to mark the U.S. 250th anniversary; organizers expect record crowds.  Paso Robles Daily News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • San Luis Obispo County's unemployment rate dropped to 4.0% in April from 4.1% in March, with 400 jobs added in leisure and hospitality + 100 in local government while retail cut 100 jobs, per the state Employment Development Department. The rate now matches the national average.  CalCoast News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Paso Robles Area Groundwater Authority released a FAQ answering community questions on the proposed FY 2026-2027 groundwater fee & scheduled a public meeting for fee review on Wednesday, May 27 at Centennial Park in Paso Robles starting at 4 p.m. with fee adoption slated for 5 p.m.  Paso Robles Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • California health officials warn residents to avoid picking or eating wild mushrooms after 50 cases and four deaths have been reported since last November. Authorities say recent rains boosted the growth of poisonous Death Cap and Western Destroying Angel mushrooms on public lands and advise buying only from trusted retailers.  Paso Robles Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cal Poly Baseball lost on Saturday when UC San Diego (27-27) won 12-2 in eight innings in the Big West Championship, and the teams will meet again today at 12 p.m. at Cicerone Field for a winner-take-all game.  Mustang News
  • Registration for North County Aquatics Swim Team’s annual Summer League swim program will open on Tuesday, June 9 at Paso Robles Sports Club. Sessions will run Mondays through Wednesdays until July 23 starting at 9:30 a.m. and will teach water safety and swim strokes to children ages 3–12.  Paso Robles Daily News
