CRIME NEWS

  • A lawsuit alleging sexual harassment, retaliation and sexual battery was filed on April 21 in San Luis Obispo County Superior Court by former winery worker Madison Busby against billionaire Hansjörg Wyss, owner of Halter Ranch Winery. CULTURE NEWS

  • Artist Esteban Cabeza de Baca displays his exhibition 'Memorias del futuro' at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art until June 22nd—his work shares community history and the challenges of the chicana experience in a personal and vivid way. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Animal science senior Gina Taurian, who loved Cal Poly spin classes, now works as one of 14 student instructors at the Cal Poly Recreation Center and teaches twice a week from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Kinesiology senior Maija Shaw, hired after a 20-minute ride-along and a cycling certification requirement, said the classes offer a safe space for students — a peer-to-peer workout that builds trust — while instructors adjust their approach based on student feedback.  Mustang News
  • On May 13, Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong said he would not sign the American Association of Colleges and Universities statement against federal intervention in higher education because he did not want to risk half a billion dollars in federal funding. A fifth of the faculty had passed a resolution and sent a letter with nearly 300 signatures asking him to take a stand.  Mustang News
