  • Central Coast Funds for Children will host the All for the Kidz Gala fundraiser on Sept. 19 at Embassy Suites (333 Madonna Road) starting at 5 p.m. The event offers dinner, live and silent auctions, and music by the Soul Kool Band; tickets cost $150 on sale beginning July 1.  Paso Robles Daily News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On May 21, mowing equipment ignited a brush fire near Golden Hill Road in Paso Robles that scorched 23 acres & threatened nearby homes before firefighters contained it to 22.65 acres.  CalCoast News

CULTURE NEWS

  • California Mid-State Fair announced winners of the 2026 Home Brewing Competition, celebrating local amateur beermakers. Conner Medeiros earned Best of Show for his Experimental Beer Imperial Pastry Stout and Nate Alexander received Reserve Best of Show for his Czech Premium Pale Lager (results announced ahead of the July 15-26 Fair at the Paso Robles Event Center).  Paso Robles Daily News
  • Cherry Bombe and Travel Paso are hosting Farmers & Makers Market (celebrating women in food, wine, farming and hospitality) from Sept. 25–27 in Paso Robles.   • The Pioneer Day Committee announced Cheryl Savage as queen and Steve Hansen as marshal for the 96th annual parade (Flags, Freedom and Pioneer Spirit) scheduled for Oct. 10 in Paso Robles.   • Cal Poly's new Student Success Center on N. Perimeter Road is causing noise concerns for students and staff (the construction usually runs Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with occasional work outside these hours) and is set to open in fall, 2027.  Mustang News
  • Cuesta College will hold its 61st commencement ceremony today from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the San Luis Obispo Campus—honoring over 1,500 graduates who earned degrees, honors, and transfer certificates.  Paso Robles Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • After a more than two-month closure to protect endangered snowy plovers, the Oceano Dunes State Vehicle Recreation Area reopened yesterday morning under new state compliance with the Endangered Species Act, with bird numbers rising from about 30 to over 200 breeding adults.  CalCoast News

  • Trumark Homes has launched Morada, a new neighborhood with 61 single-family homes where sales have begun and three model homes are available for tours at the Vinedo community in Paso Robles (featuring modern farmhouse, wine country, and progressive Spanish styles with parks and trails).  Paso Robles Daily News

  • Cal Poly's Mustangs defended their Big West Tournament title when they beat No. 3 seed UC San Diego on Thursday, May 21 at Cicerone Field in Irvine - pitcher Griffin Naess threw six strong innings.  Mustang News
