- ➤ On May 16 just after 10 p.m., an Oceano man allegedly pulled a knife on an employee and stole the victim’s phone at a business on the 500 block of Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo before being arrested on May 17 near Santa Rosa Park + he now faces charges including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, vandalism and a probation violation without bail. - ➤ Officers arrested 26-year-old Dominic Charkhian after he threatened an employee with a knife during a restroom altercation on the 500 block of Higuera Street on May 16 and later found him in a park on May 17 facing charges of felony robbery & assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, misdemeanor vandalism & probation violation. - ➤ Janet Marie Brown, 40, faces 10 misdemeanor charges for altering medical records at the crisis stabilization unit on Johnson Avenue where a 19-year-old patient died of fentanyl poisoning on May 15 — court records show she is due for arraignment today. KSBY

- ➤ Paso Robles Joint Unified School District named Jennifer Bedrosian as Teacher of the Year for her leadership in dance, student rallies, and program development at Paso Robles High School—she also coordinates leadership programs and guides students through events like freshman orientation. - ➤ Gustavo Ramirez, custodian at Glen Speck Elementary, was named Classified Employee of the Year by the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District. The district praised his positive attitude and strong work ethic (qualities that endear him to students) and his readiness to help teachers (support that keeps the school environment welcoming). - ➤ Paso Robles Joint Unified School District opened enrollment for transitional kindergarten for children turning 4 by Sept. 1 for the 2025-26 school year—transitional kindergarten will become a full-day program this fall, and enrollment packets are available in English and Spanish on the district website. - ➤ Cal Poly’s Stampede Performance Lab trains local middle school athletes every Sunday at the Mustang Strength Complex where students learn safe weightlifting and strength techniques under Anna Grexton’s guidance—recently the program expanded to include high school students. The initiative started for a youth football team and now offers one-hour, three-week sessions focused on proper form and injury prevention. Mustang News
- ➤ Cal Poly football added four transfer players this past week to boost its offense for the 2025 season after a 3-8 campaign in 2024. The new players include quarterback Anthony Grigsby Jr.—who played at Nevada and San Mateo—and wide receivers Fidel Pitts and Makai Puga, with the team set to play at San Diego on Aug. 30 and host Western Oregon on Sept. 13. - ➤ Peyton Dunkle finished her career at Cal Poly by setting an all-time win record with 52 wins, winning the 2024 Big West Championship & earning multiple first-team all-conference honors.
