  • Yesterday in rural Santa Margarita, Nicole St. Aubin and Jason Downey saw smoke on Tassajara Creek Road and called 911 before stomping out a half-acre fire with help from three neighbors — stopping the blaze until firefighters arrived.  CalCoast News
  • Loki, a 2-year-old brown tabby cat, is available for adoption at Woods Humane Society in San Luis Obispo every day from noon to 4 p.m. Shelter staff say she loves head and back rubs+ she often kneads her favorite blanket.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • Community members are invited to volunteer at Centennial Park or Uptown Family Park on Saturday, May 24 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 8:45 a.m. Participants should bring a shovel, rake, or broom (tools required) and Uptown Family Park is set aside for families with children 11 and under (family event).  Paso Robles Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • A short film titled '20/80' by Central Coast residents was named one of 15 finalists in the 2025 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge after being selected from over 120 global entries. The film—exploring visual impairment and mental health—features local cast and crew from Paso Robles and Atascadero and was honored at a red-carpet awards ceremony on April 6 at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City.  Paso Robles Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cal Poly Track and Field competed at the Big West Championships on the weekend at Jack Rose Track in Long Beach, where the men’s team won their second consecutive title and the women placed second by 1.5 points. Distance runners including redshirt junior Aidan McCarthy and redshirt junior Michael Chambers led multiple wins + the Mustangs now await NCAA Preliminary qualifiers before preparing for the West Regionals on May 28.  Mustang News
