ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A hiker fell from Bishop Peak Saturday morning and was rescued by a CHP H-70 helicopter that delivered a rescue device to local fire personnel who airlifted the patient to a nearby landing zone—injuries are unknown.  Paso Robles Daily News

  • Authorities investigated the death of a 6-year-old boy who died Saturday evening at Twin Cities Hospital in Templeton after suffering suspected heat-related injuries in a vehicle, and Paso Robles police arrested his father, Briant ReyesEstrada (27), on charges of murder and willful harm after his car was found parked at the Paso Robles Inn for several hours.  Paso Robles Daily News

  • A report by the PolicyCraft Institute showed that in 2024, arts and culture boosted the county's economy by generating $291.1 million in visitor spending plus 200,000 volunteer hours that produced about $7 million in labor income, contributing to a total impact of $478.7 million and underscoring the sector's economic value.   • Cal Poly partnered with former grad Jason Wheeler to rescue 10 tons of Kennedy Library flooring from a landfill—seven students updated the JackRabbit Salvage Marketplace website so local groups can repurpose the materials.  KSBY-TV
  • Firefighters contained the Eagle Fire on May 10th near the 3700 block of Geneseo Road in rural Paso Robles after the wildfire burned about 1 to 2 acres—officials said the cause remains under investigation.  Paso Robles Daily News

  • Healthcare workers at Planned Parenthood California Central Coast voted 100% in favor of a strike amid claims of unfair labor practices—staff say management has repeatedly ignored short-staffing issues while failing to invest in care, and they plan a strike at six sites including San Luis Obispo.  CalCoast News
