CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On May 3, police announced that four suspects including 38-year-old Shane Parker were arrested in March near Cal Poly for allegedly operating a drug house in San Luis Obispo. Officers raided Parker’s vehicle near Meincke Avenue and his home on Murray Avenue—seizing cash, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and other items as evidence while filing charges against all four. - ➤ Paso Robles Joint Unified School District named Leonor Buza as its new director of student services — she brings over 25 years of education experience from roles such as those at Los Angeles Unified School District and will work with students, families, and staff to improve programs and safety. Buza will lead efforts to support diverse student needs and enhance school conditions across the district. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ County officials confirmed that the boil water notice for Pismo Beach, Avila Beach and County Service Area 12 was lifted Saturday after extensive testing showed the drinking water was safe for residents and restaurants. Officials said a 30-day investigation will continue to determine the cause of the singular positive test result. KSBY-TV
- ➤ Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong will appear before Congress on May 7 to answer questions on allegations of campus antisemitism after the House ordered the university to provide a videotape of a professor allegedly harassing Jewish students on April 4 + the committee requested related records on policy changes and campus actions. The hearing will let Congress learn how Cal Poly has responded to these serious concerns. CalCoast News

- ➤ The Paso Robles High School Bearcat Athletes of the Week include McKinley Huffman, a sophomore on the stunt team who has shown strong progress and will compete at the Central Section CIF this weekend, and Julia Cox, a 10th-grade track star who earned top finishes at the Elks SLO County Championships last Saturday (3rd in the 100m, 2nd in the 200m, and 2nd in Shot Put with a new PR) and will run at the league meet this Friday at San Luis High School. - ➤ On May 1, Templeton High School varsity tennis team beat Frontier High School in Bakersfield by a score of 5 to 4 and advanced to the Central Section Division 2 semifinals for the first time in school history.
