- ➤ Paso Robles Recreation Services will hold two summer events at Centennial Park; on May 9, aquatic staff will offer free swim assessments and scholarship applications at Centennial Pool from 4 to 7 p.m., and on May 10, families will register in person for the Super Summer Sign-Up Party from 9 a.m. to noon with online registration starting at 10 a.m.+ Families needing translation or extra help are encouraged to attend the May 10 event+ phone support will resume later in the week. - ➤ On May 2nd, a large tree from Laguna Middle School fell on an occupied double decker bus traveling on Los Osos Valley Road in San Luis Obispo—SLO Transit quickly rerouted another bus while no one was injured. CalCoast News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ San Luis Obispo County sheriff deputies arrested members of an auto scam ring run by Romanian nationals on April 3 when they pulled over a vehicle near Highway 166—Alexandru Florea was charged with conspiracy and vehicle tampering while a 17-year-old was taken to juvenile hall and an 11-year-old was turned over to Child Welfare Services. - ➤ The boil water notice remains in effect for Pismo Beach and Avila Beach because E. coli was found in Lopez Lake water and Pismo Beach’s well is under maintenance—officials have lifted the order in Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach and Oceano after switching to groundwater. Crews expect to lift the notice for Pismo Beach and Avila Beach today. CalCoast News
- ➤ Caltrans will close the median opening on U.S. 101 at Wellsona Road on Sunday, May 4 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. as part of the project to build an undercrossing beneath the highway—eliminating left turns across traffic—and crews will install a temporary concrete barrier that will remain until early 2026—ensuring work zone safety as construction continues. - ➤ County officials have lifted the boil water order for Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach, Oceano and San Miguelito Mutual Water Company customers after tests showed the water was safe on Friday — a decision made after isolating these systems — but residents in Pismo and Avila Beaches must still boil water until further tests are confirmed.
