CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Grover Beach police arrested three drivers on April 29th for street racing when officers observed races on the 1500 block of W. Grand Avenue plus on the 1800 block, arresting two local residents and one driver from Visalia with a drunk driving charge. CalCoast News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Cal Poly student Parker Jones created a free app that documents the history of 31 student-built structures in Poly Canyon and features an interactive map with photos and details. He worked with professors and CAED officials to compile the historical information, and the app has helped kickstart fundraising efforts to revive the canyon’s caretaker program. Mustang News
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Cal Poly is building the nation’s largest modular housing complex to add more than 4,200 suite-style units and grow its student body from 22,000 to 25,000 by 2030, working with FullStack Modular (a Los Angeles county firm) to address the affordable housing crisis. Crews are prepping the site and will start stacking units in September while the first building of about 500 units is expected by Fall 2026 (costing about $1.2 billion). CalCoast News
