ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A report by ATTOM said that in Q1 2026, major home expenses in San Luis Obispo County consumed 89.7% of a typical wage, placing the county as the fourth least affordable in the nation + 14 of the 25 most unaffordable counties are in California. CalCoast News
- ➤ Last week, average gasoline prices in San Luis Obispo County dropped three cents to $5.97 a gallon, with Anchor Gas in Morro Bay offering the lowest price at $5.21 + AAA cited ongoing regional tensions affecting oil markets. CalCoast News
- ➤ San Luis Obispo County's unemployment rate declined from 4.6% in January to 4.4% in February, as reported Friday by the state Employment Development Department. Job gains in the farm and hospitality sectors partly offset losses in wholesale and retail, keeping the rate below state and national averages. CalCoast News

- ➤ Junior Christian Serna of Paso Robles High School was named one of four winners of the Cuesta College Conservatory Award, earning a $10,000 scholarship to study music at Cuesta College. He advanced through a live audition that pitted him against many competitors from across the area. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ Representatives from NASA Ames visited Paso Robles to tour the municipal airport and rocket engine test facility — discussing a potential partnership for the Spaceport and Technology Corridor initiative.
