- ➤ The city and four Rotary clubs planted its first Peace Pole in Mission Plaza Tuesday, Apr. 14 to symbolize unity; the pole displays the message 'May Peace Prevail on Earth' in eight languages and was marked by a performance from local youth ensembles. KSBY
- ➤ Sidewalk closures along N. Perimeter Road and Village Drive near the North Mountain dorms are in effect until the new Student Success Center opens in Oct. 2027, with a temporary crosswalk (leading pedestrians to the Fisher Building) set up for safe access. Mustang News
- ➤ San Luis Obispo launched the free Belonging Project to bring residents together through quarterly public conversations focused on inclusion. The initiative follows an event on Feb. 25 + will feature a session on May 13 at the public library with Cal Poly’s debate team. Mustang News

- ➤ On Friday night, the Poly Royal Rodeo returned to Spanos Stadium with sold-out seats as Cal Poly students cheered a mix of saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, and a motor show & live concerts that highlighted teamwork and careful animal care. Mustang News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Cal Poly students chose the university for its small class sizes and active campus organizations, noting that nearby natural attractions (including a quick drive to the beach) enhance their campus experience compared to other schools. Mustang News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ San Luis Obispo County has secured funding to provide replacement homes to manufactured or mobile homeowners affected by the Dec. 2022 to Jan. 2023 winter storms. Homeowners in local mobile home parks must apply if they have unmet repair needs (minimum $3,000) and meet income requirements. CalCoast News

- ➤ Chris Connolly, who received a lifesaving liver transplant, is partnering with nonprofit Vitalant during Donate Life Month to urge blood donors to help keep organ transplants possible in our community; his story shows how regular donations support patients needing transplant procedures & may save lives. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Over the past weekend, Cal Poly baseball lost to No. 7 Oregon State—dropping a 6-3 game on Friday and a 10-9 contest on Saturday. The Mustangs will try to regain their rhythm in Tuesday’s home game against Pepperdine at 5:05 p.m. Mustang News
