- ➤ The Cal Poly club Tikkun Olam Makers built a custom 3D printed mobility trainer for toddler Bledsoe, who suffered a stroke and faced high device costs, finishing the 285-hour build last February at Mustang Makerspace (students and family celebrated the local effort). Mustang News
- ➤ Tonight, the Poly Royal Rodeo kicks off at Spano’s Stadium amid an approaching storm while the Fremont Theater reopens after storm damage — PG&E customers get a climate credit, over $6 million is allocated for Santa Barbara Harbor dredging, and upcoming projects in Solvang and near Cayucos will improve road travel. - ➤ Cuesta College is recruiting 34 fellows for its College Corps program that offers paid service opportunities and up to $10,000 in support. - ➤ Cal Poly’s Wildlife Club is mapping 464 rodenticide boxes on campus to show how these bait boxes threaten wildlife and human health; the club began collecting data in Fall 2025 to encourage safer, holistic pest management methods & guide campus policy. Mustang News

- ➤ A Central Coast resident won $7 million after buying a $30 scratcher ticket at Liquor Emporium in Lompoc on April 9 (the second such win in eight months). The store owner said the bonus will fund inventory and equipment upgrades. CalCoast News

- ➤ The 33rd Cal Poly Open House and 84th Poly Royal Rodeo kicked off on Thursday at Spanos Stadium and college rodeo athletes from the West Coast are competing for a championship title while the event will run rain or shine through Saturday. KSBY-TV
