- ➤ A community fundraiser in Cambria supports three children after their parents died from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning on Feb. 8; funds managed by Brent Waldman (a longtime family friend) have raised over $182,000 toward a $200,000 goal for funeral costs, memorial arrangements, and immediate needs. - ➤ Paso Robles Scouts from Troops 60 and 1602 finished a December trip to Yosemite and several outdoor activities, and they plan a backpacking trip and Santa Cruz Boardwalk visit in March, a camporee in April, white water rafting in May, and summer camp at Camp Fiesta Island in June. - ➤ Cal Poly expects to enroll 25,000 students by 2030 while Kennedy Library’s $78 million renovation added just 300 study spots, leaving students, especially late in the evening, struggling to find seats; plans for six to seven high-rise dorms may increase the need for more local study spaces (concerns raised by current users).
