COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Adoptable cat Penny Can—a 12-year-old muted calico Manx—is looking for a new home during Woods Humane Society's St. Petrick's Day promotion. She will be available at both shelter locations with a $70 adoption fee from Mar. 13 through Mar. 17.  KSBY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Paso Robles musician Chris Tso was inducted into the Syracuse Area Music Awards Hall of Fame on March 5. He performed on WSYR NewsChannel 9’s morning show and at the Palace Theater on March 6.  Paso Robles Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cal Poly students received an email late Monday assigning them a mandatory 30-minute Freedom of Expression training on First Amendment rights and campus policies. The training, which was planned months ago with the Cal State Chancellor's Office, is due on June 7 and will not trigger registration or graduation holds.  Mustang News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Central Coast farmers are modifying harvest schedules and boosting irrigation as unseasonably warm weather affects operations today. Paul Clark of the Farm Bureau said efforts include extra water for crops and shade for workers (protecting sensitive produce like leafy greens and strawberries).  KSBY-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Travelers face an overnight closure of Highway 41 from the Highway 46 interchange to Highway 33 from March 19 at 8 p.m. to March 20 at 8 a.m. Caltrans crews will complete rockslide repairs + reposition a barrier, adding about 30 minutes to detour travel.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • The SLO Police Department set road closures near Cal Poly beginning 4 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. today while doubling fines for parties & alcohol offenses; the Morning on the Green concert began at 4:45 a.m. at the Sports Complex, and Phillips Lane bike bridge access is suspended.  CalCoast News

  • AHS selected Bearcat Athlete of the Week as Avery Davis, Caleb Konoski, Kiley Bowman & Presley Heinbach. Avery excelled on the stunt team, Caleb earned a state placing, and Kiley plus Presley won a beach volleyball tournament at PRHS last weekend, all backed by longtime local sponsors.  Paso Robles Daily News
