- ➤ Cal Poly’s Black Student Union (BSU) continues to preserve Black history as February ends. Computer science sophomore Alexis Lytle, serving as African Diaspora Historian, documented the group’s legacy and hosted events that drew over 800 Black students, emphasizing everyday identity on campus. - ➤ A local benefit event at the Templeton Performing Arts Center raised $5,055 for the LGS Foundation to support research and families managing Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (a rare childhood epilepsy). - ➤ Cal Poly’s PolySat Lab will launch its student-made SAL-E satellite into orbit on Mar. 29 from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The project gives students hands-on experience while testing a new radiation sensor and radio device. Mustang News
- ➤ On Thursday, Mar. 26 at 11:30 a.m., Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast will host the Standing With Youth luncheon at Tom Maas Clubhouse (3301 Oak St.) in Paso Robles to discuss local challenges facing youth and engage community leaders. Paso Robles Daily News
- ➤ The 42nd Cuesta College Central Coast Writers Conference is set for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25 and 26 on campus. Registration is available now at $225 until April 30 (then $275) and New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Maberry will deliver the opening keynote. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ A new Safety Enhancement Zone will go into effect in San Luis Obispo starting tonight at midnight until Monday at 7 a.m. Violations such as noise disturbances, open containers, and public urination may result in fines ranging from $700 to $1,000 (no warnings given). KSBY

- ➤ Woods Humane Society features 4-year-old German Shepherd Cali as its Pet of the Week. She is known for her playful & smart nature and is available at the shelter from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. for adoption. KSBY-TV

- ➤ Mustang News is broadcasting live from Mott Athletics Center as Cal Poly hosts the Pac-12 Wrestling Championships (its first time in 21 years). No. 19 Koda Holeman will face Maximo Renteria while nationally ranked wrestlers Ceasar Garza and Trevor Tinker compete in key bouts. Mustang News
- ➤ Cal Poly Wrestling won three Pac-12 individual titles and secured four NCAA tournament spots on Friday, March 6 at the Mott Athletics Center — a historic achievement for the Mustangs. They overcame injuries and inexperience to claim spots for the NCAA championships in Cleveland beginning March 19. Mustang News
- ➤ Less than three months after tearing his labrum, Trevor Tinker returned to the mat at Cal Poly and secured a technical fall win over No. 3 seed Khale McDonnell during Friday’s Pac-12 Championship. The 6 foot 7 graduate student will defend his title later tonight & close his collegiate career with another win. Mustang News
- ➤ The Central Coast Surf Soccer Club Girls 2013 team from Paso Robles won the Cal South State Cup championship last weekend in San Bernardino. The team displayed strong play (scoring 13 goals and allowing only 2) and earned a final score of 2 to 1 in the championship match. Paso Robles Daily News
