COMMUNITY NEWS

  • North County groups will organize a No Kings 3 rally, march and community gathering on Saturday, March 28 in Atascadero with a 10 a.m. car rally at El Camino Real and Morro Road, an 11 a.m. downtown march, and a noon gathering at Sunken Gardens (6005 Lewis Ave).  Paso Robles Daily News
  • Travelers on Highway 246 near Lompoc should expect a closure today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local residents and workers can still access the route using a detour via Purisima Road + H Street.  KSBY-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cal Poly Salsa Club welcomes all levels of dancers in Building 5, room 225 with regular lessons and a mixer on Fridays. The club offers bachata at 7 p.m. and salsa at 8 p.m. for students to connect and have fun.  Mustang News
  • Since Kennedy Library opened last September, students have adjusted to its library culture with new quiet study spaces and expanded 24-hour areas, while faculty & librarians arrange seating to promote both collaboration and independent study.  Mustang News
  • Cal Poly senior Aaron Price Jr. (an electrical engineering major and basketball player) received the Emmitt Smith Athletic Achievement Award from Phi Beta Sigma and plans to recharter his chapter to unite Black students once it gains five members; his Sigma Week events, which ended March 1, helped build support.  Mustang News
  • A seed-saving workshop will be held at the Library Study Center on March 25 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 3600 Oak St. Garden educator Sharon Lovelady (of Seed Savers Exchange) will teach techniques for saving seeds from vegetables, fruits and flowers; registration is required.  Paso Robles Daily News

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Adoptable Pet of the Week is Sunday (named after the day she delivered her kittens), a young black and white cat with green eyes, available for adoption at the Caffeinated Cat Cafe in Grover Beach. SPORTS NEWS

  • USC swept Cal Poly in a four-game series over the weekend, winning games 16-2 and 8-6; the Mustangs will face Pepperdine today at 5:05 p.m. at Baggett Stadium.  Mustang News
  • Cal Poly Women’s Basketball lost 85-61 on Saturday to UC San Diego, extending their streak to 14 defeats (their worst loss since a 45-point blowout to UC Irvine); they will aim to bounce back in a home game at 6 p.m. Thursday at Mott Athletics Center.  Mustang News
  • Cal Poly Women’s Tennis kept their winning streak alive with wins over Santa Clara and San Jose State that pushed their tally to five matches; the team will next face San Diego State on Friday and UC San Diego on Saturday at Ronca Tennis Center.  Mustang News
