- ➤ This weekend, volunteers can help build 100 beds for kids at The Home Depot in San Luis Obispo Saturday (Feb. 21, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) while a 5K run, car expo, wine tasting, cultural festival and free concert bring more family fun across the Central Coast. KSBY-TV

- ➤ Shabang Music and Arts Festival returns at Dairy Creek Golf Course on May 2 and 3 with headliners Chris Lake, The Backseat Lovers, Magdalena Bay and a special guest, featuring a new stage and no on-site camping. - ➤ On Feb. 1, Cal Poly’s Chinese Student Association held its 68th Lunar New Year banquet at the Chumash auditorium, featuring traditional food, lion dance and cultural performances—while Mission Plaza hosted another celebration on Feb. 19. - ➤ Strong winds and rain hit San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties on Thursday, Feb. 19, as a wind advisory was in effect until 9 p.m. Gusts reached up to 45 mph and drier conditions will return this weekend with rain possible on Monday. CalCoast News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ San Luis Obispo County and local food banks are preparing for new CalFresh work requirements starting June 1 that will require more local recipients to meet work conditions, which may affect about 3,292 people and local business spending. Officials say the changes will reverse a long-standing waiver. KSBY-TV

- ➤ Cal Poly wrestling has adjusted its lineup as key wrestlers Zeth Romney and Trevor Tinker have been absent since December; the team prepares for the Pac-12 Championships at the Mott Athletics Center using a next-man-up approach (with fresh wrestlers stepping in). Mustang News
