- ➤ San Luis Obispo is celebrating the season of love with multiple volunteer events this month, including an open space restoration on Feb. 7 from 1 to 2 p.m. and mural painting, park cleanup, and dog park ambassador roles available through summer — volunteers must sign waivers and register online. - ➤ Central Coast Zoo will unveil the refurbished Lion Water Fountain named Leo the Lion with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. Feb. 14 at Atascadero Lake Park, and families can enjoy free Valentine’s-themed activities until 1 p.m. (Woo at the Zoo). Paso Robles Daily News
- ➤ Woods Humane Society will host its annual Bachelor Pet adoption event from Feb. 11 through Feb. 15 to offer reduced adoption fees of $14 for adult dogs & cats. The event will be held at 875 Oklahoma Ave, where 55 pets are ready to join loving homes. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ Cal Poly will host Morning on the Green: A Mustang Music Festival on March 14 at the Sports Complex Lower Fields. The free event for students will double capacity to 10,000 and the university is partnering with SLO law enforcement to ensure safety. Mustang News
- ➤ On Feb. 1, Anita and Varinder Sahi hosted an in-home wine tasting at Copia Vineyards in Paso Robles, where 30 guests sampled award-winning wines, including a light rose, and enjoyed small bites while talking with the hosts about their family's journey in winemaking. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ The City Council voted 5-0 on Tuesday to reject a proposal to turn Laguna Lake Golf Course into low-cost housing after receiving over 120 opposing letters; the council will instead look into spending about $850,000 on repairing the pro shop and bridge at the course. CalCoast News

- ➤ Templeton Imaging and Selma Carlson Diagnostic Center now operate as Adventist Health Imaging — updated systems enhance scheduling and care. A ribbon-cutting took place Jan. 27 in Templeton and another is planned Feb. 24 at 77 Casa St., Suite 102 in San Luis Obispo from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ Cal Poly third baseman Alejandro Garza was named the preseason Big West Player of the Year by D1 Baseball after a breakout 2025 season and strong performance in the Cape Cod League — the Mustangs are set to begin their season in North Carolina on Feb. 13. Mustang News
