McLintocks, Frank’s Famous Hot Dogs and Buffalo Bar and Grill, was found dead in his hotel room downtown Monday morning + foul play was not suspected and his businesses now face potential licensing issues after an underage alcohol sting. - ➤ Visitors to Paso Robles can spend 24 hours tasting local wines, starting at Clos Solène with its cave tour in the final stage, then sampling craft cocktails and family-friendly options at Dracaena Wines before dining on seasonal dishes at Buona Tavola. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ Researchers aboard a vessel off Point Piedras Blancas spotted a rare waved albatross on Friday, Jan. 23 — only the second sighting north of Central America — and noted the bird’s unusual presence may signal environmental shifts if it does not return to its Galapagos breeding grounds soon. KSBY
- ➤ California State Parks will conduct prescribed burns at Morro Bay and Montaña de Oro state parks from Monday, Feb. 2 through Feb. 20. Burn times (weather permitting) run Monday to Wednesday from 7 a.m. to about 5 p.m. to reduce fire hazards in San Luis Obispo County. Paso Robles Daily News

- ➤ San Luis Obispo County is asking local cities to support a plan to extend Diablo Canyon Power Plant’s operation for up to 20 more years and restore a unitary tax to boost local revenue. County leaders say the plant remains a key economic driver. KSBY
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ San Luis Obispo County has been awarded a $21.6 million grant to renovate an existing facility for a new mental health and crisis treatment center in Paso Robles. The 16-bed project, known as Pathways Home, will expand services for local youth & adults and open in fiscal year 2028-2029. CalCoast News
